Scuba Diving Lessons In New York

Scuba Diving Lessons In New YorkNew York offers a wide variety of scuba diving classes. If you are thinking of taking up lessons, there are several requirements that you must first be aware of before enrolling in a scuba diving class.

Interest – classes can be completed in a few days, but the training and being certified need some serious work. Most diving schools in New York require that their student complete assignments including reading materials, videos and exams. If it is just an impulsive decision and the interest is not really there, then seriously you might need to re-consider as you could just be wasting your time and resources.

Scuba diving gear – is available on rent, but if you are thinking of making scuba diving a regular part of your hobby, you can get your own gear. Most of these schools advise their students to bring a mask, snorkel and fins. The rest is provided by the school.

Cost – Scuba diving classes can begin as low as $250. This pays for class, pool training and dive gear use. Most of the materials used in the course are not included in the fees.

Swimming skills – good health and being a competent enough swimmer are important. Included in some of the training routines are swimming 200 or 400 yards in a pool, treading and floating.

Age requirements – The lowest age for diving lessons is 10 years, and 14 years for PADI Open Water Diver course.
